Medieval or post-medieval silver socketed terminal probably from a handle. D-sectioned socket formed from sheet metal with three straight and one narrow curved side, with a transverse silver rivet just within the open end. The socket expands very slightly to a flat, triangular terminal plate which extends beyond the sides of the socket to form a flange, the point of the triangle bent and broken, perhaps originally forming a loop or hook. In the centre of the terminal plate is a patch of solder, probably originally securing a suspension loop. The edge of the socket and the edge of the …

A fragment of decorated silver sheet, tapering, broken across one end and convex at the other, with both long sides missing. The object is now quite flat but four pairs of longitudinal engraved lines mark what would have been the edges of facets of a tube of polygonal section, probably the handle cover of a whittle-tang knife. Only a very small part of one facet survives. The central extant facet is engraved with scroll work along its full length. This issues from the open mouth of a wolf-like head at the convex end, and other foliage continues onto the adjacent parts of the flanking …
