Rectangular mount with two adjacent sides bent down and under to fit the corner of the cover, the other two edges notched and shaped with a trefoil terminal in the fourth corner. Central prominent domed boss, the edges forming a cinquefoil with stamped triangles around the edge, six stamped annulets with eight radiating petals, and a border of annulets along each straight edge. Measuring 22.5 x 22.5mm. 15th - 16th century.

Roman copper alloy openwork mount, furniture fitting or decorative grille made from thin sheet. Broken, now triangular with two surviving sides set at slightly wider than 90 degrees, slightly raised plain repoussé border and elaborate openwork in a D-shaped panel in the surviving corner and broken across a curved panel, perhaps circular when complete. Three empty attachment holes at the edge, one in the surviving complete corner and one next to each break. Fragments of decayed organic material, probably wood, inside, but probably not related to the original artefact. Measuring 25 x 28mm. Height 19mm.
