Sprung copper alloy Dolphin brooch. Hexagonal sectioned bow with a pair of median grooves along its back from the head to foot, tapering slightly towards foot which has a flat, blunt terminal, most of catch-plate survives. 'C' sectioned wings with one transverse and one diagonal line on each, hook and part of wings filled with iron corrosion from (missing) pin. Length 35mm, width 16mm. 1st century AD.

Fragment of a composite silver disc brooch of rosette shape, with inlaid garnets and silver filigree ornament; it dates to the early part of the early-medieval period and is perhaps of Frankish manufacture. Six of twelve trapezoidal cells around the edge are extant, each with a convex outer edge and set with a cloisonné garnet on pointillé gold foil. Less than one third of a Kentish silver jewelled disc brooch, rim missing. The central cell is empty. Three outer cells are extant, one circular filled with decayed blue glass paste, one D-shaped filled with similar but paler material and another circular, empty and distorted. Style I zoomorphic motifs fill the spaces between the outer cells and a pelleted circle surrounds the central cell. On the reverse there are the crushed remains of a double pin lug. A silver gilt knob from a radiate-headed brooch, with a hollow underside and perforated ends. The front is decorated with a mask comprising eyebrows, a nasal ridge between the eyes within pairs of concentric ribs, and nostrils. Cf. Ashley et al (1990), fig.1, no.3, and other knobs from Fransham and Marham.

Fragment of a silver ansate brooch. Flat terminal in the form of a rectangular, moulded, 12-petalled flower. Slightly narrowed rectangular-sectioned bow broken across beginning of expansion, probably remains of a central decorative rectangle matching the terminal. Incomplete narrow catch-plate on reverse of terminal. Length at least 20mm, width of terminal 13mm, width of bow 11mm, weighing 4.28g. Of Weetch's type XII.B, possibly similar to an example in Thörle, 2001, Taf. 57, 4. 8th or 9th century.

A medieval gilded silver annular brooch. The openwork frame is flat sectioned, consisting of an internal ring with sixteen conjoined scallop-shell or fan-shaped projections (eleven of which survive) around the outer edge with a small circular hole between each one. One of these holes is expanded and the internal ring narrowed to hold the (missing) pin. The internal ring is decorated with an incised single line border around the inner and outer edge with angled grooves between, within which traces of niello survive. A heavily clipped denier of Conrad, bishop of Utrecht (1076-99). There are four piercings near the edge of the coin, arranged roughly as the spots on the face of a die. One of these is now empty, the other three still contain small silver rivets. Two of these rivets secure a catchplate formed of a silver strip; a pin attachment would doubtless have been secured by the other two rivets, one now missing. The object is a silver grosso issued by the Italian city of Bergamo (ref: CNI IV, 45/138). The coin has the image and name of the Emperor Frederick II, king of Sicily, and dates to the mid decades of the 13th century - c. 1250s-60s. The coin would have been produced to a good standard of metal, certainly over 90% fine silver. Its current weight is 1.49g, which is probably about a gram less than its original weight.
