Middle or Late Saxon silver strap-end of Thomas' (2003) Class B, Type 1. Broken across the base of a wedge-shaped rectangular-sectioned split end, below which the body is oval-sectioned, becoming circular-sectioned as it tapers to a blunt point. The body is decorated with three groups of three encircling transverse grooves, with a transverse groove on each face of the surviving split end. Very large, slightly convex-sided strap-end with three silver rivets at the split attachment end, a central rectangular panel decorated with silver sheet depicting complex interlaced beasts with at least six heads visible, with further silver sheet over the circular ears and over the forehead of the animal head terminal. Fragment of a Late Anglo-Saxon silver strap-end of Thomas' Class A, Type 1 with Trewhiddle-style decoration. Only the middle section survives, broken across the decorative field at both ends; the attachment end and terminal are both missing. The sides are convex and have a double-ribbed border; the outer rib is decorated with angled transverse grooves while the inner rib is plain. Medieval composite strap-end of crescentic type, the points of the crescent meeting leaving an oval aperture in the front-plate. The separate oval sheet back-plate is secured by two copper alloy rivets through the points of the crescent at upper end and two copper alloy rivets near mid-point. The front of the crescent is decorated with engraved lines, probably stylised leaves or a flower, with short sectioned of rocker arm engraving. The knop at the base of the crescent is missing. Possible gold strap-end, buckle-plate or fragment of unidentified object, perhaps a back-plate. Description: Triangular gold sheet with a straight short edge, one slightly curved long edge and one straight long edge. There are two empty holes punched through from one face at the short edge, and two punched through from the opposite face near the rounded point, one of which is through the long straight edge. Rectangular front and back-plates with single rivet at attachment edge, full width sheet spacer, with a small groove on each edge before the terminal which consists of an oval lobe followed by a lozengiform lobe with a second rivet before a trefoil knop at the end.
