Medieval copper alloy strap-end, rectangular sheet folded widthways (fold with loop-like ridge on reverse), decorated with tiny punched triangular stamps forming double border within which is an elaborate fleur-de-lis with curling tendrils and central foil ending in a cross potent, two dome-headed rivets at attachment end, edge damaged, 25 x 20mm. Medieval strap end. Shield shaped plate pierced at pointed end for (missing) rivet, scar in corrosion shows position of missing bar mount, iron corrosion in the centre of blunt end suggests iron rivet. Surface corroded. Similar examples in Dress. Access. 1991, fig. 103, although these have a notch on either side of the plate before the bar mount.

Cast, slightly trapezoidal, one piece socketed strap end. Attachment edge broken and abraded with only a fragment of the original edge surviving. Two rivet holes close to centre of attachment edge, outside edge consisting of a transverse roll moulding that projects slightly beyond the sides. Decorated on both faces with two opposed engraved swirls, engraved swirls on each side and on outside edge. A similar example was found at Attleborough, Norfolk (HER 36681). A Silver strap-end of Thomas 2003 Class A Type 1. The attachment edge missing and it is broken across two rivet holes at the split end. The decoration on the front face was once inlaid with niello of which none survives. At the upper end a fan-shaped field contains a palmette motif. On the main part, between billeted sides, a central lozenge containing a cross and with a D-shaped field at each corner, is surrounded by four fields each containing a Trewhiddle style animal. Fragment of worn and corroded copper alloy Class A (Thomas, 2003, 2) strap end. Split end with two large silver disc headed rivets, below which the object is broken. The decoration consists of traces of engraved lines around the rivets and a fragment of niello. The silver rivets comprise at least 10% of the surviving object. Late Saxon. Length at least 11.5mm, width at least 15.5mm, thickness 4.5mm, weight 1.87g.
