Roman copper alloy furniture fitting, perhaps a casket or box mount. Hollow backed, circular stud with the lion's face in high relief, with grooves defining the mouth and snout, and details of the eyes. The outer flange is engraved with radiating lines representing the mane around rounded ears. The reverse of the mount is filled with white metal and a central corroded iron shank. Diameter 25mm.
