Gold Medieval finger ring. Triangular sectioned band (point inwards, convex outer edge) becoming lozengiform at shoulders, triangular collet now empty, with engraved line around outer edge. Gold Serjeants-at-Law finger ring. Rectangular sectioned, now squashed, engraved with a cross paté followed by . These rings were distributed by people joining the Order of Serjeants-at-Law. Rings distributed at the same call all had the same motto whether an individual or several people were joining the order. The motto 'LEX VITA REGVM' was used on rings of the general call of April 1567 when seven people became Serjeants-at-Law. Incomplete silver finger ring. Most of D-sectioned (3 x 1mm), parallel-sided hoop is missing. The circular bezel (diameter 6.5mm) is cast integrally with, but is set on the outer surface of, the hoop. Its surface is flat and undecorated apart from a number of randomly distributed pecked impressions. On both sides of the bezel the hoop is decorated with three moulded grooves (3mm in length). Internal diameter c. 20mm, weighing 1.3g. This ring was reported as possible treasure under the Treasure Act 1996 and subsquently returned to the finder after being disclaimed as treasure.

Post-medieval furniture fitting. An incomplete cast copper alloy drop handle with a trapezoidal suspension / attachment loop, with short spiked projections to either side above a constriction before expanding to a rectangular plate which is decorated with a slightly raised triangular panel. The plate terminates in an irregular transverse break. Surviving length 36mm. Width 16mm. For similar examples see Read (1995, 162, no.1086) and Macquoid and Edwards (1954, vol.II, 303, fig.16a), c. 1660 - 1710.

Description Silver gilt mount in the form of a fish and made from a thick piece of sheet folded lengthways and hammered together at the tail. Flat, silver, angular shield-shaped object inscribed WC 1643, the date and the owner's initials, within an engraved linear border with multiple transverse lines. The heads of two separate silver rivets are flush with the front face and their shanks bent over onto the reverse. Leaf Arrowhead (incomplete) Dimensions 36 x 25 x 4.6mm. A broad based, thin leaf arrowhead, recently snapped transversely with loss of the point. Finished overall on both faces by peripheral shallow pressure flaking, with complete removal of the surface of the blank. Both faces show signs of incipient patination, which has not affected the break surface. Leaf Arrowheads are a defining artefact of the Neolithic (especially the Early Neolithic Period, 4000-3000BC).

Complete but squashed silver sheet finger-ring. The hoop tapers to pointed ends which are wound around each other, and expands to a flat lozengiform bezel. This is decorated with stamped impressions of two designs, a reversed S distributed along the edges and a circle with raised diametric line punched in pairs and short alignments of four. A silver gilt dress fastener with a lozengiform plate, cast in low relief, with a cusped flange around the edge. The inner part of the plate is decorated with a slightly raised edge and pellets arranged in a lozenge around a central quatrefoil flower with a central pellet. Soldered to the reverse are a rectangular transverse bar for attachment and a sharp rearward facing hook. Gilding survives on the plate. Cf. Gaimster et al (2002, 165, fig.8). 16th century. 20Length 24.5mm, width 18mm. Weight 4.14g.

A silver buckle. An oval frame, triangular sectioned, with a pointed notch for the pin. Off-set, narrowed bar, with a lozengiform sectioned pin with a large, rectangular collar before the loop attaching it to the bar. Sexfoil mounts were commonly made in copper and lead/tin alloys (Egan and Pritchard 1991, 186-92), but rarely in silver. Date: 14th - 15th century.
