Medieval scabbard chape. One end (width 8mm) is now curved. From this the sides diverge so that 15mm from the end the width reaches 19mm, at which point only the edges continue as arms (both now broken). Between then the end is cusped and on both faces a round depression shows that the object was unfinished, and that a round grooved aperture, familiar at the attachment edges of 14th-century strap-ends, was intended. County: Norfolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Neolithic adze rough-out made from a thermally fractured (or "pot lid" fracture) piece of lightly patinated mottled grey flint broken from a larger nodule, two small unretouched areas remain on the ventral face and two small patches of weathered cortex remains on the dorsal face. Both faces are crudely hard hammer struck with some flake scars terminating in hinges. It is unlikely this piece was finished and it appears it was abandoned before completion. 120 x 44 x 25 mm.

Description: Undated gold ring. Slightly irregular section, D-shaped externally with a median arris internally. The internal surface is irregular and not well finished / smoothed in some areas. Date: Undated. Dimensions: Internal diameter 16 - 17mm. External diameter 22 - 22.5mm. Width of band 4 - 4.5mm. Thickness of band 2.5 - 3mm. Weight 6.7g. Discussion: The lack of diagnostic features make this ring difficult to date. The irregular section of the band would be unusual for a post-medieval finger ring, the form and plainness would be unusual for a ring of Roman to Medieval dat…
