An incomplete post-medieval silver gilt ball-headed pin, most of the shank missing. Filigree decoration on the hollow-cast head is decorated with a median band below three roundels, three pellets within much smaller roundels and a larger pellet at the top. Apart from the latter feature the treatment below the band is the same (one pellet has been lost). A smaller than average example of an otherwise typical Tudor dress-pin. Length greater than 14.5mm. Head diameter 7.5mm. Shank diameter 1.7mm. Weight 0.82g. 16th century.

Post-medieval circular silver sheet button, rather distorted, with an incomplete loop attached with solder on the reverse. The initials 'PC', probably of the owner, have been pecked out in dots in the centre of the convex front, and the maker's mark 'RM' stamped twice on the reverse. Diameter 16.5mm. Weight 1.30g. 17th century.

Post-medieval silver dress pin of the bodkin type, bent several times throughout the length. The shank is of flattened hexagonal section and is engraved on both broad faces towards the upper end with a foliar motif within an elongated triangle. Above this the cross-section becomes rectangular and then two pairs of grooves flank a engraved saltire with central annulet on both broad faces and a rounded profile on the barrow sides. Silver button. Bi-convex, hollow, the two halves soldered together with two holes in the reverese and a separate soldered D-sectioned loop. There are traces of decoration on the upper half in the form of worn semicircles which may originally have been annulets. Cf. Read, 2005, no.355 - 358 for similar copper alloy examples.

Silver pendant shield with an integral loop at the apex, probably a vervel of Lewis and Richardson type C.iii. The shield is engraved on both faces: Fr Man / nock of / giffardes / hall // in Stoke / in Suf. / esquire . Two similar objects are illustrated in the Treasure Annual Report 2004 nos.319-320. The better parallel of the two, no.320 (from Suffolk), is described as being 'possibly from horse harness' which is most unlikely. Silver clothes fastener eye plate. A circular silver sheet with twisted silver wire soldered to the reverse bent in the same plane as the disc to form an eye, the ends bent outwards into circles to form two attachment loops. There is a central hollow dome with eight apertures in the sides on the front of the disc topped with a pellet surrounded by a circle of twisted silver wire. A silver pin with a globular head decorated with a prominent median rib above which are three filigree circles each containing a central pellet surrounded by a further circle of twisted silver wire, one of which is out of position. Between each of the larger filigree circles just above the rib is a further pellet with twisted silver wire around the base, and at the top of the pin a central pellet. A possible hawking vervel. Flat sectioned ring inscribed W SPRYNG around one face and OF PAKENHAM around the other. The A and M of Pakenham are ligatured. Similar to an example from Emneth (2007 T305). Pakenham is in Suffolk. c. 17th century.
Sir William Spring of Packenham (d. 1638) was knighted by Charles I in 1611 and served as Member of Parliament for Bury St. Edmunds in 1625. He had a son, also called Sir William Spring (1613 - 1654) who was made a baronet. A rectangular fragment of the side of a silver thimble, broken on three sides. Two engraved lines form a border at the rim, above which are lines of evenly spaced square dots with a plain section to one side and a plain band above before a break. There is no trace of a makers or hall mark, and the dots are hand punched. The break at the top is slightly uneven, as if broken across further punched dots.

Less than half of the frame of a silver sheet annular brooch or buckle, badly distorted and broken at both ends. One break cuts across a maker's mark ]WE The reading of the first letter is uncertain. A gold posy ring, D-shaped in section. Inscribed internally 'Loue i,s' the bond of peace' with a stamped, worn makers mark consisting of HB (ligatured) stamped in relief within a square. Tiny traces of possible niello survive in some of the letters. The marks on either side of the s may be unintentional as, although clear, they are slightly irregular. The lettering is similar to that on an example from Firle, East Sussex (Treasure Annual Report 2004, 296, fig. 315), dated 1696. External diameter 20mm, internal diameter 16.5mm. Width of band 4mm Weight 5.24g.

Post-medieval copper alloy furniture fitting. Incomplete escutcheon plate in the form of a stylised openwork two headed crowned eagle, the bird's heads bent to join the wings,the outwardly bent feet forming rectangular apertures, the plate broken acorss a keyhole.The simple three pointed crown, elongated necks, displayed wings and feet are covered in lines of engraved rockerarm, with stamped annulets forming the eyes, and a single stamped heart above the keyhole in the centre of the bird's breast. The plate is thickened on the reverse either side of the keyhole.
