Fragment of gold sheet from an unidentified object. The sheet is folded forming a front and back-plate the edges of which are torn, except for the lower edge of the back-plate which appears neatly cut, and the straight folded edge. The front-plate is decorated with a row of stamped dots above a row of repoussé pellets parallel with the folded edge, the lower edge possibly torn along a third row of pellets or dots. Surviving dimensions 12 x 7mm. Weight 0.4g.
Although ancient (over 300 years old) the decoration would be consistent with a Bronze Age, Roman or Early Medieval date, and…

Unidentified object. Two cast silver rings, one D-sectioned (external diameter 12mm, internal diameter 9mm) the other circular-sectioned (external diameter 11mm, internal diameter 7mm), linked by a strip of silver forming a triple ribbed loop (width 3mm), the ends of which are tapered, twisted and broken.
It is possible that the twisted ends of the connecting loop were inserted into leather or cloth leaving the two rings to act as suspension loops, although the fitting would have been unable to take much weight.
Date: Probably medieval.
Dimensions: Weight 2.0g.

Unidentified and undated fragment of silver, gilded object. Curved, concave on both wide faces, narrowing slightly from one end towards the other, the outer edge knurled (multiple closely spaced transverse ribs) between narrow raised borders at either edge, the inner edge slightly convex and plain. Broken at both ends, one break extending around to the inner edge slightly leaving the possibility that there was an internal projection. Thickness 3mm. Width 7 - 9.5mm. Weight 2.5g. Incomplete copper alloy Roman object, perhaps an unusual button-and-loop fastener, handle, or unidentified object. Rectangular boss, flat on the reverse, with cusped or concave sides rising to form a central rectangular socket which is now partially filled by iron corrosion. The upper edges of the socket are broken. Projecting from the side and reverse of one short edge is a short, rounded projection, perhaps broken on the underside, which may represent the remains of the shank of a button-and-loop fastener. There are no apparent breaks or scars on any of the other edges, so this does…

Incomplete and unidentified object. Copper alloy casing, broken across a circular hole at one end from which the casing expands to form at least three surviving foils or 'toes'. The casing is filled with lead, and if originally circular, about half survives. The angle of the casing suggests a foot for a small vessel.
Surviving diameter / width 23mm. Height 10mm.

Copper alloy flat disc stamped on one face with 12 triangles in a circle, points facing inwards, around a very slightly raised circular moulding around a central rectangular hole. Plain on the reverse. There is a very small amount of possible decayed enamel on one triangle. The edges of the disc are certainly complete around most of the circumference but there are abraded patches which may be breaks. Diameter 20mm. Thickness 1.5mm. Weight 2.76g. Probably Roman, perhaps part of a brooch. See for example Hattatt, 2000, 351, fig.210, no.1062. Also similar to a button…
