Slightly hollow backed, shallow D-sectioned bar, constricted with slight pointed projection to either side before expanding to form a rounded, pierced terminal with pointed projection at one end, expanding briefly before a ragged break at the other. Very worn and corroded. Surviving length 59mm. Width of bar 13.5mm. Width of terminal 17mm. 13th - 14th century. Tapering to a blunt terminal, with a shallow transverse rib on one face and a transverse groove across the base. Both faces are decorated with ring-and-dot, five on one face and six on the other. The chape is filled with corroded iron which has forced a split in the side. Surviving length 33mm. Width 20mm. Similar to 12th century examples in de Reuck (1991, 3, 6 and 9).

Copper alloy Roman brooch, Mackreth (2011) Type CD H (Colchester Derivative Hinged). Circular-sectioned enclosed wings with damaged open terminals, filled with iron corrosion from the axis bar, with slot retaining the stub of the broken copper alloy pin. D-sectioned bow with a shallow groove either side of a median rib. Lower part of brooch and pin missing. Surviving length 18mm. Width of wings 27mm. 1st century AD.
