Due to its fragmentary nature it is difficult to conclusively identify this object. It is most likely a late medieval dress accessory. It is made from silver, and takes the form of a scallop shell with seven foils divided by six radiating engraved lines and two transverse curved lines on the upper, convex face. The reverse is concave with a few possible spots of solder, broken across the hinge end of the shell. Apart from the possible solder, there is no visible means of attachment.
