Non-symmetrical double oval buckle, central bar projects slightly beyond frame, narrowed for sheet metal pin with raised transverse bar, bar for buckle plate missing, corroded surface with specs of gilding. The central bar is decorated with closely spaced square cells around and between which traces of blue enamel survive. The outside edge has scrolling foliate decoration surrounded by traces of blue enamel. Almost identical to an early 13th century Limoges example (Boehm and Taburet-Delahaye 1996, 287, no. 91). Medieval copper alloy buckle plate. Short, rectangular plate, recessed for the (missing) frame, slot for (missing) pin, folded widthways, the back-plate narrower than the front-plate, with two globular-headed rivets securing front-plate, back-plate and (missing) strap. The front-plate is gilded and engraved with an outer border of rocker-arm and an inner single line. One corner of the front and back-plates is missing. Measuring 14 x (reconstructed) 27mm. Circa late 12th - 14th century.

Medieval copper alloy buckle. Oval frame, with only the terminals of the off-set, narrowed bar surviving. The outside edge is formed from three lobes each decorated with two angled transverse ribs forming a chevron. Externally the lobes are slight, internally the edge is scalloped with four concave foils. Measuring 20 x 34mm. Broadly similar in style to double-looped frames in Egan and Pritchard (2002, 84, fig.51, no.345 and an example illustrated from the Museum of London collection), although this is certainly a single-looped example. Probably 14th - 15th century.

Medieval gilded copper alloy buckle plate. Rectangular, recessed for the (missing) frame, slot for (missing) pin, broken at the fold, with two dome headed rivets at the attachment end. On the front of the plate is a lion passant in low relief on a field of closley spaced punched dots. The lion faces the buckle, the plate to be viewed with the buckle to the left.
Surviving length 18mm. Width 14mm. Late 12th - 13th century.

Early Saxon silver, gilded buckle pin. D-sectioned pin, recessed on the underside for the (missing) frame, the broken loop emerging from the mouth of a stylised animal head with small round ears, shallow brow ridge, dots for eyes and a slightly up-turned snout. The loop is rectangular-sectioned, curved internally, and flattened on the base externally before the break. Only the animal head has been gilded.
Length 23mm. Thickness 4mm. Weight 3.1g. No very close parallel has been found. Circa 550 - 700 (Andrew Rogerson pers. com.).

Medieval copper alloy buckle-plate. Rectangular sheet folded widthways, the back-plate much smaller than the front plate, recessed for (missing) frame with slot for (missing) pin. Two rivet holes behind and to either side of the slot correspond with two rivet holes in the corners of the back-plate, with two further rivet holes at the attchment edge. The plate is decorated with an engraved zig-zag border and a central repoussé boss, with traces of gilding. Now bent and cracked almost in half.
Length (unbent) 56mm. Width 20mm. 13th - 14th century.

Medieval copper alloy buckle-plate. Rectangular, recessed for (missing) frame, slot for (missing) pin, broken at transverse fold, back-plate missing. Two rivet holes at attachment end retain corroded iron rivets. Plate decorated with a raised border around a highly stylised bird or wyvern in very low relief facing right, perghaps originally reserved on a field of enamel, now missing. The neck, body and tail of the bird are covered by rows of pecking in which gilding survives. There are further traces of gilding on the border.

Medieval asymmetrical double-looped buckle, one small (17mm wide) rectangular loop and one much larger (26mm wide) internally bevelled oval loop with pin constriction and notch on outside edge. Length 30mm. Tapering pin, in an alloy now paler green, with rounded sides and transverse moulding, probably once slightly raised but now worn flat, next to the loop.
