A silver buckle. An oval frame, triangular sectioned, with a pointed notch for the pin. Off-set, narrowed bar, with a lozengiform sectioned pin with a large, rectangular collar before the loop attaching it to the bar. The rectangular plate is folded widthways, is recessed for the frame and expands slightly towards the concave attachment end where there are two round-headed rivets. There are separate side strips. No spacer is visible. The joins between the side strips and faces of the plate, and between the frame and the plate are so well finished they are almost invisible. Similar to …

Sub-round buckle, narrowed off set bar, sheet metal pin, traces of gilding on frame. Three closely spaced splayed lines in centre of outside edge. These lines now stand proud of surface as gilding has protected them and the surrounding surface has corroded. Measuring 10 x 13mm.
