Asymmetrical copper alloy buckle frame, one loop trapezoidal, the other D-shaped, with narrow rib or lobe at both ends of bar, filed pin notch and two pairs of oblique groves on straight outside edge and very elaborate openwork inside edge. In outline this is heart-shaped with an ovoid knop at the base (i.e. the terminal) and three apertures, one large and heart-shaped between two smaller and round. Very unusual pair of unfinished jointly cast buckle frames, vertically conjoined side-to-side, bent at join, both oval (width 12mm, height c. 21.5mm) with broad outside edge of flattened D-shaped section and offset narrowed bar. 12 x (unbent) 43mm. Cf. Dress Access. no. 271. 13th - 14th century. Important find, a rare example of evidence for manufacturing.

Medieval elaborate composite gilt buckle-plate, tongue-shaped folded widthways with pin-slot and recessed for frame, narrowed on reverse, copper alloy rivet through trefoil terminal, separate open-work plate attached (by solder) to front, cast lion passant guardant modelled in high relief accentuated by undercutting openwork perforations. Surviving measurments 29 x 11mm. Separately cast openwork plate 5mm thick. Cf. part of a similar plate from Mautby (HER 35301). Late 12th-13th century.

Gilt copper alloy buckle with frame of unusual form: ovoid or D-shaped with offset narrowed bar, twin flanges on both sides, large globular boss in centre of outside edge, and extensions of the sides beyond the outside edge in the form of stylised animal heads, one of which is missing. Tapering D-section pin with transverse rib near loop. 27 x 30mm. Cf. a rather more elaborate example in the Bargello Museum in Florence, dated by Fingerlin (1971, 343, Kat. Nr. 76, Abb. 24) to the second half of the 13th century.

No slot or hole for pin, not recessed for a frame. Decorated with an engraved rocker-arm line along each long edge with three rocker-arm X's forming a zig-zag, with a short line of rocker-arm in the centre of each resulting lezengiform and triangular field. File marks on the reverse and possible traces of solder. Length 48mm. Width 23mm. 13th - 15th century.

Probably a medieval buckle of unusual form. Copper alloy sheet cut and bent to form two parallel sides and outside edge. The sides, one of which is incomplete and both of which are now bent flat to the back of the buckle, were pierced twice to hold two (missing) bars, iron corrosion from which surrounds one of the surviving holes. The extremely elongated outside edge of the buckle is curved, and bent to form two hollow-backed longitudinal ribs, with a deep central notch at the end.
