Early Saxon silver, gilded buckle pin. D-sectioned pin, recessed on the underside for the (missing) frame, the broken loop emerging from the mouth of a stylised animal head with small round ears, shallow brow ridge, dots for eyes and a slightly up-turned snout. The loop is rectangular-sectioned, curved internally, and flattened on the base externally before the break. Only the animal head has been gilded. Length 23mm. Thickness 4mm. Weight 3.1g. No very close parallel has been found. Circa 550 - 700 (Andrew Rogerson pers. com.).

Medieval to early post-medieval silver annular buckle. Circular-sectioned frame with soldered but joint, no constriction and undecorated. The pin is rectangular-sectioned, with a slightly raised moulding incised or stamped with a tiny cross at the base, beyond which the upper face of the pin is bevelled on both edges. External diameter 20mm. Internal diameter 13mm. Thickness 3mm. Weight 4.0g. 13th - 16th century.

Post-medieval silver buckle. Rectangular frame with rounded corners, expanded drilled sides for the separate corroded iron spindle around which the ends of the button chape are folded. Pin missing. There is a stamped maker's mark on the chape next to the spindle of a lion passant. Frame 18 x 14mm. Chape 16mm long. Weight 2.4g. For a similar example see Whitehead (2003, 103, no.633) dated 1690 - 1720.

Medieval silver buckle consisting of an oval lipped frame, composite hollow rigid plate, and cast pin with a transverse ridge and side flanges next to the loop. The plate consists of a forked spacer and separate sheets, and there are two convex-headed rivets near the concave inside edge. Leather is preserved within the plate. Length 30mm. Width of frame 16.5mm. Width of plate at inside edge 13mm, at junction with frame 12mm. Weight 3.51g. Early Anglo-Saxon silver buckle, treasure case 2011T835. Description: Oval frame of oval cross-section, with slight groove following the inside edge, probably the result of hammering during manufacture. There is a broad grooved pin rest on the outside edge and a narrowed bar. A silver buckle. An oval frame, triangular sectioned, with a pointed notch for the pin. Off-set, narrowed bar, with a lozengiform sectioned pin with a large, rectangular collar before the loop attaching it to the bar. The rectangular plate is folded widthways, is recessed for the frame and expands slightly towards the concave attachment end where there are two round-headed rivets. There are separate side strips.
