Late medieval or early post-medieval copper alloy locking arm buckle. Rectangular frame with rectangular-sectioned sides drilled for separate spindle and (broken) locking arm. Cast pin with transverse pierced oval-sectioned lug to attach to bar. The outside edge of the larger loop has a transverse flange, the upper edges of the frame concave with a notch at either end. Measuring 29 x 17mm (excluding arm). Width 32 including arm. See similar examples in Whitehead (2003, 89, no.552 - 4). This type of buckle is now thought to date from c. 1500 AD.

A silver buckle. An oval frame, triangular sectioned, with a pointed notch for the pin. Off-set, narrowed bar, with a lozengiform sectioned pin with a large, rectangular collar before the loop attaching it to the bar. The rectangular plate is folded widthways, is recessed for the frame and expands slightly towards the concave attachment end where there are two round-headed rivets. There are separate side strips. Buckle. A distorted frame with a notched lip on the outside edge and a ridge on either side of the frame before a tapering integral plate. The hole for the (missing) pin is filled with corrosion. There is a rivet hole in the plate filled with corroded iron, and the worn end of the plate may be broken across a second rivet hole. Of a similar type, but with no exact parallel, to examples in Whitehead (2003, 33). Frame 19 x 18mm. Plate 15 x 9mm.

Near parallels have been found at Horsham St Faith (Norfolk HER 50700) and Southrepps (Norfolk HER 51114). Measuring 24 x 28mm. 11th century.

The engraved lines now survive proud of the surface which must originally have been gilded although no trace of gilding now survives.
