Medieval copper alloy buckle plate. Front-plate only, broken accross transverse fold, recessed for (missing) frame, slot for (missing) pin. Two rivets at attachment edge. Plate decorated with a rectangular frame around a lion passant reguardant in low relief. Traces of gilding on the frame, lion, and in the field around the lion. See NMS-4B50B1 and NMS-B648C7 for similar examples.Measuring 25 x 21mm. Late 12th - 13th century.
