Object type: BLADE
Broad period: PALAEOLITHIC
County: Norfolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Late Upper Palaeolithic long blade which appears to be struck with a soft hammer from a single platform core. Flake directions are difficult to observe as the piece is heavily patinated white with some small areas of spotty iron staining. The proximal end is missing, broken recently and revealing unpatinated black flint. One lateral edge has been steeply retouched along its length at a later date, perhaps during the Neolithic or Bronze Age and has a light grey patination. Such re-use is uncommon, but not unknown. It shows that this piece had been lost or discarded and found several th…

Object type: ARROWHEAD
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Norfolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Neolithic unpatinated black flake, appears to be a possible sub-triangular arrowhead with transverse bending fractures to both the distal and proximal ends, this is usual damage for an arrow that has hit a hard surface. It is manufactured quickly from a flat secondary flake with a small patch of weathered cortex on the dorsal face towards the distal end and is only slightly retouched in places to correct the curvature and improve symmetry. 26 x 18 x 3 mm. Finder's no. 1.
