Neolithic axe of patinated pale buff mottled flint with spotty iron staining to most of the high points of the flake scars. Mostly complete with old differentially patinated damage to the sides of the cutting edge and one lateral edge. The axe has been partly ground although not to any great degree. Only the very peaks have been smoothed off towards the cutting edge and the mid-ridge. 131 x 56.5 x 26mm

Neolithic flint axe, found around 1952 - 56, of elongated, narrow-butted form, and of lenticular section with straight lateral edges tapering immediately from the cutting edge, all of the larger knapping scars are completely ground and polished out over the whole surface, with particularly fine polishing around the gently curved cutting edge. It is of patinated pale mottled grey flint, with some rusty scrapes from iron agricultural implements. Maximum width (at cutting edge) 48mm. Maximum thickness 16mm. Length 203mm. Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age very unusual and simple arrowhead, with tang but no barbs, apparently made on a fortuitously shaped flake fragment which only required bilateral and bifacial retouch at one end to form a sharp point. Unpatinated. Probably Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age, when barbed and tanged arrowheads were in use.
