Post-medieval gold finger ring. D-sectioned band inscribed internally in italics Tis your consent is my content followed by a partially worn and completely illegible stamped maker's mark. The S of 'consent' is elongated, and the 'e' following it only partially engraved. Width of band 3mm. External diameter 19mm. Internal diameter 16.5mm. Weight 1.8g. There are several similar examples in the collections of the British Museum, including Museum Number 1961,1202.82. 17th - 18th century.

Two discs, the front disc with pair of overlapping crowned hearts on a stippled field and downturned rim, connected to the slightly larger rear disc with two engraved lines around the edge by a circular-sectioned shank. Diameter of upper disc 13mm. Diameter of rear disc 14mm. Thickness 18mm. Weight 1.8g. The crowned hearts may refer to the marriage of Charles II to Catherine of Braganza in 1662. 1662 - circa 1700.

Separate soldered crown missing, vertical butt join now separated, two lines of engraved rocker-arm around the lower edge between which is a stamped maker's mark H, and IW in lightly pecked dots. The I is partially obscured by scratches and may possibly be T or L. The rest of the sides are covered in closely spaced low relief stamped annulets. Surviving height 17mm. Lower Palaeolithic handaxe of type D (Wymer 1968, 1999.) Hard hammer struck from a suitable flat and slightly irregular nodule of mottled grey and black flint, now unpatinated; both faces have a patch of cortex extant, one appearing as a hollow where the flake removals did not succeed in being deep enough to level the concavity. All the edges and high points of the flake scars are heavily rolled. 143.5 x 80 x 37 mm. Weight: 432g. Found on beach. Recorded and sketched by the late Tony Gregory in 1975.

Iron Age socketed terminal mount in the form of a bull's head. Circular-sectioned socket filled with orange-stained soil, perhaps from iron corrosion, with four evenly spaced rivet holes between two very fine engraved lines around the edge. One of the rivet holes is broken through and there is a ragged crack extending 11mm from the edge, possibly caused by internal corrosion forcing the socket apart. Lead disc with the arms of Norwich (castle above a lion) within a cabled border in low relief, with a recess around the edge separating the upper disc from a lower disc or flange from which two loops or tabs project. At least two further broken shank-like projections emanate from the edge of the upper disc. If a cloth seal then the usual arrangement of rivets and tabs connecting discs has not been used. Diameter 15mm. Circa 16th - 18th century.

Roman copper alloy furniture fitting, perhaps a casket or box mount. Hollow backed, circular stud with the lion's face in high relief, with grooves defining the mouth and snout, and details of the eyes. The outer flange is engraved with radiating lines representing the mane around rounded ears. The reverse of the mount is filled with white metal and a central corroded iron shank. Diameter 25mm. Height 13mm. For similar examples see NMS-DB80B4, and an example from Skeleton Green, Hertfordshire (Partridge, 1981, 314, fig.119a). Circa 43 - 150 AD.

Triangular-sectioned annular frame with a pointed projection on one side and an empty collet on the other, with a constriction possibly retaining a corroded fragment of pin between. The whole surface is covered in an orange-brown deposit but is non-magnetic. Measuring 30 x 19mm. Internal diameter 13mm. Cast in low relief in the form of a stylised cherub's face with trefoil sprigs of probable foliage above and below, the larger upper sprigs framing the base of the circular eye, the lower smaller sprigs framing a an attachment loop to either side of the cherub. Oval ear coop with a twisted stem with four concave sides each decorated with a median line of engraving, before a collar with five ribs formed by lines of transverse filing on each face which line up imperfectly, above which the stem is circular-sectioned and tapers to a point to form the toothpick.
