Description: Early Anglo-Saxon gold and garnet pendant, oval and slightly narrower at the apex than at the base. The sheet back-plate is rolled forward at the upper end to make a suspension loop with four longitudinal ribs. The setting comprises a dark red cabochon stone, presumably a garnet, with an off-centre angled polished face, set within a plain collar formed from a strip of gold sheet, the join clearly visible. The S of 'consent' is elongated, and the 'e' following it only partially engraved. Width of band 3mm. External diameter 19mm. Internal diameter 16.5mm. Weight 1.8g. Post-medieval gold signet ring. The band is flat internally with three external facets, expanding smoothly through the shoulders before a flat, octagonal bezel. The bezel is deeply engraved with a beaded border around a shield bearing A lion rampant, the helm is unusually small and is crowned with a ducal coronet above which the crest comprises A boar's head couped. The sheet is folded forming a front and back-plate the edges of which are torn, except for the lower edge of the back-plate which appears neatly cut, and the straight folded edge.
