Silver gros tournois of Loius IX of France, issued 1266-70, gilded on the obverse and with the remains of clasp fittings attached to the reverse. This transforming of a coin to a brooch (or clasp) was a common phenomenon in the late 13th century and a number of similar examples are known including several from Norfolk (Marsden 2014, 90-2). Medieval copper alloy mount, probably from harness. Lozengiform plate with a slightly raised border around an eight pointed star in very low relief reserved on an enamelled field. The surviving enamel is grey, (perhaps originally white or pale blue). Gilding survives on the star around a central hole for a (missing) rivet. The reverse is plain. Measuring 41 x 28mm. 2 medieval silver coins found within two feet of each other. Both are groats of similar date in very good condition, and it seems likely that they went into the ground together. They are: Edward IV, London, cinquefoil initial mark with rose on breast, Type XXI, North 1631, weight 3.13g, 1480-3 Henry VII, London, crosslet initial mark, North 1747, weight 3.07g, 1504-7 The later groat has hardly seen any circulation and so it seems likely that the hoard was lost or deposited late in the first decade of the 16th century or early in the second.

Due to its fragmentary nature it is difficult to conclusively identify this object. It is most likely a late medieval dress accessory. It is made from silver, and takes the form of a scallop shell with seven foils divided by six radiating engraved lines and two transverse curved lines on the upper, convex face. Medieval composite strap-end of crescentic type, the points of the crescent meeting leaving an oval aperture in the front-plate. The separate oval sheet back-plate is secured by two copper alloy rivets through the points of the crescent at upper end and two copper alloy rivets near mid-point. The front of the crescent is decorated with engraved lines, probably stylised leaves or a flower, with short sectioned of rocker arm engraving. The knop at the base of the crescent is missing. A reasonably well-preserved bulla which despite having some corrosion of the lead surface, still has enough of the original patina preserved to show the reading very clearly. The outside edge is formed from three lobes each decorated with two angled transverse ribs forming a chevron. Externally the lobes are slight, internally the edge is scalloped with four concave foils. Measuring 20 x 34mm. Broadly similar in style to double-looped frames in Egan and Pritchard (2002, 84, fig.51, no.345 and an example illustrated from the Museum of London collection), although this is certainly a single-looped example.
