Fragment of side lobe from an Early Saxon great square headed brooch. Very little original edge surviving, inner panel decorated with engraved lines and ring-and-dot with one ring-and-dot decorated lobe projecting from the edge. The plain side lobe is separated from the engraved inner panel by a curved line. Gilding survives in the engraved lines. Hines (1997) Group XVI or XVII. Circa 525 - 575. Surviving dimensions 17 x 22mm, thickness 1.5mm.

Two Late Saxon pennies found 30m apart. Both are PAX type pennies of Harold II Godwinson dating to 1066 and both are, furthermore, struck from the same pair of dies. The moneyer is Godric of Thetford. It is inconceivable that two coins of this period struck from the same pair of dies could have come to be lost separately so closely together and we are surely dealing with part of a group of coins that went into the ground together. Medieval silver annular brooch. Circular frame, circular-sectioned, constricted for the pin. The pin has a transverse ridge decorated with a line of closely spaced stamped annulets next to the loop. The frame is decorated with two strands of twisted silver wire spiralling in opposite directions around the frame. Gilding survives on both the frame and pin. Frame (external) 23 x 19mm, (internal) 17 x 14.5mm. Weight 2.6g. Although annular brooches are a very well-known medieval artefact type, no very close parallel for this type of decoration has been found. 13th - 14th century.

Roman intaglio. Oval carnelian with flat upper face and bevelled edges on the reverse, with a thin rectangular-sectioned gold band around the edge. The upper face is engraved with a naked male standing figure facing left holding stems of corn in his left hand, and an unidentified object is his right, with drapery falling from his left arm. SECVND INI is engraved on the left edge of the gem in retrograde, the N and D ligatured. Measuring 13 x 10mm. Thickness 2mm. Weight 0.5g. 43 - 410 AD.

Medieval gold finger ring. The bezel is in the form of an irregular pentagonal collet retaining a pale grey chalking substance at the base, but no stone. The plain, pointed oval-sectioned band, now distorted, tapers slightly from the collet to the rear. There are no marks. Width of bezel 11.5mm x 10mm. Height 7mm. Irregular-shaped brambled handle with stub or triangular-sectioned pick at one end and elaborate mouldings at the other before a triple moulded collar and broken circular-sectioned shank, probably originally terminating in an ear scoop. Unidentified object. Two cast silver rings, one D-sectioned (external diameter 12mm, internal diameter 9mm) the other circular-sectioned (external diameter 11mm, internal diameter 7mm), linked by a strip of silver forming a triple ribbed loop (width 3mm), the ends of which are tapered, twisted and broken. It is possible that the twisted ends of the connecting loop were inserted into leather or cloth leaving the two rings to act as suspension loops, although the fitting would have been unable to take much weight. Date: Probably medieval. Dimensions: Weight 2.0g.

Originally triangular sheet back-plate forming a cusped flange around the edge, with two of originally three plain, hollow domed bosses soldered to the upper face, each encircled by twisted silver wire, and two surviving pellets also encircled with twisted wire. One corner of the plate is missing with a scar from the third boss before the break. Post-medieval silver dress fastener eye plate cast in the form of a fan of feathers with an opposed angled lines with curled ends either side of an arrow at the base of the fan. The feathers are alternately plain and cast with a central rib and angled lines. The plate is pierced twice to form attachment holes, with the third attachment loop projecting from the top of the fan and an oval eye projecting from the base. Incomplete silver developed crossbow brooch of Bayley and Butcher (2004) type T192. The crossbar, axis bar and pin are missing, broken at the end of the highly arched pentagonal-sectioned bow.
