Medieval silver annular brooch. D-sectioned frame decorated with curved oblique ribs alternating with lines of pellets imitating twisted mouldings, terminating on either side of the flat, circular pin rest and circular piercing for the pin attachment with an animal head with small ears, and hollow eyes which may originally have contained glass pellets, now missing. Description: Silver hooked tag of probable late Anglo-Saxon date. The plate is circular with two circular perforations at one end, for attachment to clothing by sewing. At the other end is a complete rearward-facing hook, curving back beneath the object and ending in a sharp point. The front of the plate is decorated with a nielloed cruciform motif set within a circular border. Crescent-shaped plate decorated with filigree, consisting of a twisted wire border around an abstract design, probably two flowers with long stamens in a pot. There are very slight traces of possible inlay in at least one of the twisted wire cells forming the design. The sheet is folded forming a front and back-plate the edges of which are torn, except for the lower edge of the back-plate which appears neatly cut, and the straight folded edge. The front-plate is decorated with a row of stamped dots above a row of repoussé pellets parallel with the folded edge, the lower edge possibly torn along a third row of pellets or dots. Fragment of a medieval silver pin, comprising a polyhedral pinhead and the stub of a collared shaft. The surviving part of the shaft is circular in section with a thicker, circular collar. The pin-head is in the form of a cube with the corners cut off, creating lozengiform and triangular facets. Each facet (except for the base from which the broken shaft projects), is engraved with some traces of niello surviving. Pierced silver siliqua of Gratian, reverse VIRTVS ROMANORVM type, mintmark and further details illegible, slightly clipped and with relatively wide (2-3mm) piercing near edge (which has worn through) between 2 and 3 o'clock (obverse), weight 1.22g, AD378-83 The worn piercing shows that this coin has been reused as a pendant and thus qualifies at an item of Treasure. It is quite worn but not excessively so. The reuse as a pendant probably belongs to the 5th century although a late Roman reuse cannot be ruled out.
