Medieval copper alloy probable strap fitting. Irregularly faceted-sectioned bar with straight outside edge, the ends bent at right-angles to form straight sides which expand slightly to the transversely pierced terminals. There are file marks over much of the surface with traces of white metal coating, probably tinning. Measuring 10.5 x 31mm. Thickness of bar 3mm. Perhaps a composite strap loop, buckle or pendant loop with unusual attachment (see Egan and Pritchard, 2002, 235. Fig.150, nos.1266 and 1267 for strap loops, and 223, fig.140 for pendant loops). Circa 13th - 14th century.

Medieval copper alloy swivel for the attachment of a leash consisting of two rings, both with moulded animal heads clasping a boss. One of these, slightly flatter at the rear, has an integral shank on which the other turns. The two elements still swivel freely. Zoomorphic terminals are quite typical: a recent survey of medieval swivels from Norfolk indicated that twenty-four out of thirty-four examples were so decorated. Such objects were probably used with hounds (Ashley 2006, 105, fig. 1 no.2). Length 46mm. Width 26mm. Internal diameter 16-16.5mm. 12th century.

Incomplete possible strap distributor, comprising two sides, the short one broad and flat-sectioned, the longer narrow and oval-sectioned, of a probably rectangular frame, with square boss at both surviving corners (at ends of short side). One boss decorated with engraved saltire within border, the other with oblique line within border. Measuring 20 x at least 25mm. Probably for two straps which would have been looped around the two opposed narrowed bars between bosses. A broadly similar although square example was found in Middle Harling, cf. EAA 74, Fig.51, no.129, miss-identified a…
