Silver ovoid annular brooch. The frame is of concave-sided square cross-section, twisted cable-style, with a row of filigree pellets along each face and a pin constriction which holds a D-section silver pin, now broken near the loop. In rather fragile condition. Dimensions: External diam. 16 x 14mm. Weight 0.68g. Very similar to an example from Stanfield, Norfolk (HER 7241, 2002 T151, Treasure Annual Report 2002, 80, no.76). Date: 13th or 14th century.

2 medieval silver coins found within two feet of each other. Both are groats of similar date in very good condition, and it seems likely that they went into the ground together. They are: Edward IV, London, cinquefoil initial mark with rose on breast, Type XXI, North 1631, weight 3.13g, 1480-3 Henry VII, London, crosslet initial mark, North 1747, weight 3.07g, 1504-7 The later groat has hardly seen any circulation and so it seems likely that the hoard was lost or deposited late in the first decade of the 16th century or early in the second.

Fragment of medieval silver finger ring or annular brooch. Four strands of twisted or plaited wire forming a band, slightly flattened on the inner face of the curve, with a flat-sectioned quatrefoil boss soldered to the outer face forming the bezel. Each foil of the boss is engraved to resemble a leaf with angled lines to either side of a median line. Traces of gilding survive on the wire and boss. Silver hollow pyramid mount, probably from a scabbard, set with slightly damaged square garnet on flat top. No evidence for the garnet being set on foil can be seen. The surface is rough and abraded. Two opposing faces are decorated with a groove around the edge within which are a pair of possible Style I legs, the toes facing towards each other. Medieval silver open-framed brooch. Sub-circular frame, flat on the reverse, cast in low relief on the front in the form of two addorsed birds, with their tails intertwined in a knot terminating in a rounded 'brambled' knop on the outer edge of the frame, their curved bodies forming the sides of the brooch, their heads turned back so their beaks meet above the piercing for the pin attachment. A modified (pierced and gilded) post-medieval silver groat of Elizabeth I (1558-1603), mint: Tower (London), initial mark: lis (North 1986) dating to 1558-60. Ref: North 1991. The coin has been gilded and been pierced near the edge at 6 o'clock on the obverse, and it is probable that the modified coin was used as a pendant. The sharp condition of the coin suggests that this adaptation does not date very long after the striking of the coin, probably in the 1560s. A post medieval silver threepence of Charles II dating to c.1664-70. This has been gilded and pierced at the 12 o'clock position on the obverse. Clearly the intention was that the coin might serve as a pendant. The display of the king's head in this way may well also have had an ideological element. This adaptation of the coin would, in all probability, have been carried out shortly after the coin's issue. Coin issued c.1664-70, adaptation in the late 1660s or 1670s. 18mm diameter, weight 1.38g.

A sixpence of Elizabeth I, Tower mint, 1578 with a plain cross initial mark (North 1997), gilded on both sides and neatly pierced near the edge at 12 o'clock (on the obverse). This adaptation was clearly carried out to transform the item into a piece of jewellery, probably a pendant, and, as a coin of over three hundred years modified in this way, it now falls under the terms of the Treasure Act of 1996. 1578, modified at a later date, probably in the late 16th or early 17th century. Diameter 26mm, weight 2.67g.

Incomplete medieval silver pilgrim badge, openwork, St Christopher leans on a staff which miraculously bore flowers, leaves and dates and half turns his head to see the Christ Child seated on his shoulder. The Child raises his right hand to give his blessing and may have originally held the orb of sovereignty in his missing left hand. The lower part of St Christopher's legs and staff and the base are missing. 12 x at least 21 mm Weighs 2.41 g. The frame is flat on the reverse and convex on the upper face, in the form of a two snakes, the smaller snake wrapped around one half of the larger, the separate heads and a fragment of wire forming the tip of a tail soldered onto the frame so there is a head at either end of the pin when the brooch is closed.
