A gold finger ring with a narrow D-sectioned band, now slightly distorted, which expands and thickens slightly before the bezel which is formed from four rectangular collects arranged around a central, slightly larger rectangular collet to form a cross. Three of the four outer collets retain table cut stones, the central collet a point cut stone, identified as diamonds. Description: Medieval to post-medieval gold finger ring. The oval-sectioned band expands smoothly from the rear to shoulders which flair before narrowing sharply to join the bezel. The shoulders are engraved to leave a foliate design in low relief, perhaps originally reserved on an inlayed field, although no inlay survives. A gold posy ring, D-shaped in section. Inscribed internally 'Loue i,s' the bond of peace' with a stamped, worn makers mark consisting of HB (ligatured) stamped in relief within a square. Tiny traces of possible niello survive in some of the letters. The marks on either side of the s may be unintentional as, although clear, they are slightly irregular. The lettering is similar to that on an example from Firle, East Sussex (Treasure Annual Report 2004, 296, fig. 315), dated 1696. External diameter 20mm, internal diameter 16.5mm. Mourning ring. Gold D-sectioned band, slightly oval, measuring externally 20 x 21mm, 4.5mm wide. Engraved on the outside with a skull, two flowers and one half flower between which are leaves. Traces of black enamel survive. Inscribed internally 'G A ob 26 May 98' and a stamped maker's mark EH within a square. 17th Century gold posy ring. Band consisting externally of ten circular bosses with corded borders. Between each boss on both sides of the band are smaller round knops. The flat internal surface is inscribed 'God gives in crease to Loue and peace'. The 's' of crease is very elongated and almost in the form of an f missing the cross bar.
