Gold rotating dorsal muff from a torc. A composite ring constructed of six components comprising two broad semi-circular-sectioned concentric hollow ribs (or tubes) between three narrow twisted wires (probably square-sectioned) soldered to a sheet inner part. The twisted wires appear very worn. The surface of the inner sheet has concentric wear and scratches where the separate parts of the torc were twisted together. External diameter 24mm. 17th Century gold posy ring. Band consisting externally of ten circular bosses with corded borders. Between each boss on both sides of the band are smaller round knops. The flat internal surface is inscribed 'God gives in crease to Loue and peace'. The 's' of crease is very elongated and almost in the form of an f missing the cross bar. The tail of the letter 'p' extends backwards to underline the last two letters of 'and'. See Oman (1974, plate 58 c) for a very similar example with a different inscription. Fragment of gold sheet strip, one straight end complete, the other missing. Throughout its length one long edge is folded over by 1 - 1.5mm. Fragment, probably from an Iron Age torc or bracelet, or a Roman bracelet. Two circular-sectioned strands of gold, each tapering slightly from one cut end to the other, twisted around each other. Total length 39mm. Diameter of strands at narrow end circa 2.5mm, diameter at the thicker end circa 3.5 - 4mm. Weight 7.5g. For potentially similar examples see PAS-845331 (Iron Age torc), SWYOR-CFE7F7 (Iron Age bracelet) and a 3rd-century bracelet in the collections of the British Museum (museum number 1883,1213.375).

Gold mourning ring with D-sectioned hoop and no bezel. Partly squashed. The convex outer face is decorated overall with engraved skull and foliate motifs including two octofoils. The inner face is inscribed GA ob 26 May 98 The omission of the first two letters of the date indicates that the date is 1698. A Merovingian tremissis of hitherto unknown type with a fragment of either another tremissis or decorated gold sheet adhering to it. A gold posy ring with a shallow D-sectioned band which is undecorated externally, and inscribed internally In thy sight is my delight followed by a stamped maker's mark within a square, possibly JD. The D is clear, but the first letter of the maker's mark is less certain. The band is now distorted, and slightly damaged at points along the edges. Gold pendant. Sub-triangular, hollow, originally rectangular sectioned but now concave on both faces. The front and back plate and double ribbed suspension loop are formed from the same piece of metal sheet folded over, with a separate double ribbed repoussé sheet forming the sides, the ends of which join under the loop. A gold finger ring, now distorted. A mourning ring with a shallow D-sectioned band, decorated with a simple stylised skull with teeth, eye sockets and nasal cavity, but missing the mandible. Two tiny particles of black may be all that remains of black enamel, but thet are too small to be certain. Inscribed internally RH oB 17 ° oct 87 (RH died 17th October 1687). At the beginning of the inscription is a stamped makers mark, an H within a square, or possibly an I with wide crossbars, set obliquely. Width of band 4mm. Weight 3.04g. Date: 1687

Medieval gold finger ring. The bezel consists of a lion couchant, moulded in high relief and soldered to the hoop. The beast's rump is faceted with multiple hammer marks. There are deeply moulded grooves on the mane and paws, and a deep groove for the mouth, but the top of the lion's head is worn smooth, with only traces surviving of grooves indicating the nose and eyes. A gold solidus of the emperor Theodosius I struck at Milan between 378 and 387 (Roman Imperial Coinage vol. IX, no. 5f or 8b). The coin has been fitted with a ribbed suspension loop, also of gold, at the 12 o'clock position on the obverse (6 o'clock on the reverse) in order for it to serve as a pendant.
