Lead weight. Half an eight pointed star in shape, corroded iron loop extending from flat side, points of star slightly irregular, one broken. Iron corrosion on end of broken point and between two others. 57 x 49mm (71mm including loop), 20mm thick. Weighing 266g / 9⅜oz. Either post-medieval or possibly Roman.

Disc brooch, of Mackreth's British Plate type, about two-thirds of the outside edge missing. Raised edge, raised inner circle around central cone with collared terminal and central blind hole. Ring of slightly overlapping stamped annulets between inner and outer circles. On reverse double pin lug and remains of copper-alloy pin almost obscured by iron corrosion, incomplete catch-plate. Four armed plate brooch. Central sub-lozengiform panel with eight opposed stamped triangles two of which contain traces of turquoise enamel, collared knop on one side, broken on other. Traces of tinning, two faint curved engraved lines on foot. Broken at head and foot. Pin, catchplate and pin lug missing. Measuring at least 26 x 25mm. Similar to an example in Hattatt (2000, fig 201, no. 1584). Mid – late 1st century AD.

Copper alloy seal box. Oval, pointed at both ends. Lid decorated with raised central ring and dot surrounded by eight smaller raised rings on a blue enamel field, remains of red enamel between central dot and ring, orange enamel fills one of the outer rings. Broken pierced lug above hinge, lug to locate lid at opposite end to hinge has indent at top and slight projection at bottom, corresponding lug in box base is pierced. 'D' sectioned, expanded and flattened for bezel Set with oval black glass with chamfered sides, impressed with (now undecipherable, possible bust facing left) design, cracked and chipped. Parallel transverse engraved lines either side of setting and further engraved wavy lines around setting. Internal diameter at least 19mm, width of bezel 13mm, glass setting 9 x 11mm. 1st - 2nd Century AD (Johns, 1996, 42 - 3).

Strongly convex blade which is wide in proportion to its length, with an almost straight back which continues the line of the socket and begins to curve upwards towards the missing point. The socket is almost closed and is broken across the nail-hole. Manning (1985, 120-2, plte 57) Type 1b, The form of the cleaver is closest to Q96. The majoity of these cleavers were used for butchering meat and intended for chopping rather than slicing.

Probably Roman, fragment of unidentified object: >1mm thick, probably cast plate, broken at both ends but with apparently original curving inner and outer edges. 12mm wide at both breaks, it widens towards the centre where there is round perforation (diammeter 6mm) and, on the outer edge, a sub-square, thickened lug. If the complete object was annular and had an opposing lug, it would have measured c.70mm, with an internal diameter of c.30mm.

The hoop, at its narrowest (2mm x <1mm), expands and rises to an oval (13mm x 8mm) bezel, which an angular S-shaped divider splits into two equal sized cells filled with glass, one translucent blue or turquoise, the other opaque and decayed, perhaps red or green. Internal diameter 20mm. 2nd – 3rd century.

Romano-British Sprung copper alloy Dolphin brooch, spring, pin, part of rear hook, catchplate and tip of foot missing, end of one wing missing. On both wings a pair of baluster mouldings with a very thin wavy-line rib between them. The bow has a median arris on the reverse and on the convex front a median groove down the centre of which another thin wavy-line rib. Both groove and rib descend to the foot. Despite some recent damage the moulded details are very fresh. For this type of decoration see Hattatt no.887. Wingspan c.22mm, length >39mm. c.40-65 AD.

A cast copper alloy Roman figurine of a ram. It is well modelled with the raised head turned slightly to one side. It has curling horns, incised pointed oval shaped eyes and details on the horns and coat with a scalloped skirt around body. The recessed underside is roughly finished and has a small rectangular central depression. The legs and tail are broken. It is 42mm in length and at least 35mm wide. The ram and the goat are cult emblems of Mercury and either can be shown accompanying the god (Green 1978, 26).
