Roman copper alloy strap-mounted and skirted terret ring. The oval-sectioned loop is broken with just under half surviving, above a collar before a lozengiform skirt with rounded knops at each corner. The skirt is angled down at the front and back, and up at each side, partially concealing an oval-sectioned, curved attachment loop. One side of the skirt is missing. Other terrets of this type are known from Norfolk, e.g. from Newton FLotman (NMS-DCB9F2, HER40445). Four base silver radiates fused together in a pile. Given this feature they clearly entered the ground in a similar position and, since they are of base silver, they furnish a case of Treasure. The only legible portions are provided by the face visible at each end of the pile, an obverse of Postumus from his Principal Mint and another of Gallienus from the Gallic Mint operating in the late 250s (with a GALLIENVS.P.F.AVG legend, radiate and cuirassed bust right). Incomplete silver developed crossbow brooch of Bayley and Butcher (2004) type T192. The crossbar, axis bar and pin are missing, broken at the end of the highly arched pentagonal-sectioned bow. The bow becomes abruptly circular-sectioned with a collar before the foot-plate, which is straight sided, bevelled on either edge with a single transverse rib and a pair of ribs at the upper end and two pairs of transverse ribs at the lower end. Roman copper alloy furniture fitting, perhaps a casket or box mount. Hollow backed, circular stud with the lion's face in high relief, with grooves defining the mouth and snout, and details of the eyes. The outer flange is engraved with radiating lines representing the mane around rounded ears. The reverse of the mount is filled with white metal and a central corroded iron shank. Diameter 25mm. Strongly convex blade which is wide in proportion to its length, with an almost straight back which continues the line of the socket and begins to curve upwards towards the missing point. The socket is almost closed and is broken across the nail-hole. Manning (1985, 120-2, plte 57) Type 1b, The form of the cleaver is closest to Q96. The majoity of these cleavers were used for butchering meat and intended for chopping rather than slicing.

Probably Roman, fragment of unidentified object: >1mm thick, probably cast plate, broken at both ends but with apparently original curving inner and outer edges. 12mm wide at both breaks, it widens towards the centre where there is round perforation (diammeter 6mm) and, on the outer edge, a sub-square, thickened lug. If the complete object was annular and had an opposing lug, it would have measured c.70mm, with an internal diameter of c.30mm.
