The eight coins were discovered dispersed over a small area. The group comprises eight silver denarii. The earliest is of Julia Domna, whilst the latest are of the last members of the Severan dynasty, Elagabalus, Severus Alexander, Julia Soaemias, Julia Maesa and Julia Paula. None show much signs of wear although some are rather accreted due to the low silver content of the coins. It seems likely that the eight coins went into the ground together, either lost as part of a purse, or concealed as a hoard. Miniature silver sword. The blade is straight sided for most of its length before curving inwards to the point. The edges on both faces are bevelled. The rectangular hilt guard, handle and rectangular pommel are flat sectioned. The earliest coin is a nummus of Constantine I (330-5) and latest coins siliquae and nummi of the house of Theodosius struck no later than the early years of the fifth century. The group comprises four silver denarii. The earliest, showing some wear, is of Domitian whilst the other three are in crisper condition and show very little signs of circulation. All of these three date to the reign of Antoninus Pius. It seems likely that the four coins went into the ground together, either lost as part of a purse, or concealed as a hoard. A gold solidus of the emperor Theodosius I struck at Milan between 378 and 387 (Roman Imperial Coinage vol. IX, no. 5f or 8b). The coin has been fitted with a ribbed suspension loop, also of gold, at the 12 o'clock position on the obverse (6 o'clock on the reverse) in order for it to serve as a pendant. Fragments of silver snake finger-ring of Johns (1996) Type C, a form "which incorporates two or more complete snakes in the design" (Johns 1997, 35-7): two lengths of wire, both with a snake-head terminal and one end missing, form a loose reef knot . Part of a probably separate object, a pin with a small biconical head, passes through the centre of the knot. All three fragments move freely, although the pin is held in place by the other two pieces and cannot be withdrawn. 1st - 2nd century.

A cast copper alloy Roman figurine of a ram. It is well modelled with the raised head turned slightly to one side. It has curling horns, incised pointed oval shaped eyes and details on the horns and coat with a scalloped skirt around body. The recessed underside is roughly finished and has a small rectangular central depression. The legs and tail are broken. It is 42mm in length and at least 35mm wide. The ram and the goat are cult emblems of Mercury and either can be shown accompanying the god (Green 1978, 26).

On both wings a pair of baluster mouldings with a very thin wavy-line rib between them. The bow has a median arris on the reverse and on the convex front a median groove down the centre of which another thin wavy-line rib. Both groove and rib descend to the foot. Probably Roman, fragment of unidentified object: >1mm thick, probably cast plate, broken at both ends but with apparently original curving inner and outer edges. 12mm wide at both breaks, it widens towards the centre where there is round perforation (diammeter 6mm) and, on the outer edge, a sub-square, thickened lug. If the complete object was annular and had an opposing lug, it would have measured c.70mm, with an internal diameter of c.30mm.

Strongly convex blade which is wide in proportion to its length, with an almost straight back which continues the line of the socket and begins to curve upwards towards the missing point. The socket is almost closed and is broken across the nail-hole. Manning (1985, 120-2, plte 57) Type 1b, The form of the cleaver is closest to Q96. The majoity of these cleavers were used for butchering meat and intended for chopping rather than slicing.

Sub-rectangular sectioned with bevelled corners, swelling from a double moulded collar at one end and a triple moulded collar at the other to an off-centre double-ribbed moulding. The handle is hollow with a rectangular aperture forming a slot through the collar at one end and a smaller rectangular aperture at the other to accommodate the tange of a missing, probably double-ended iron tool, although no trace of iron corrosion survives. Roman copper alloy disc-shaped plate brooch. About a quarter of the edge is missing. The front of the plate retains solder from a missing, separate element (see for example Mackreth, 2011, vol.2, pl.104 for examples retaining thier separate decorative elements). On the reverse is a double pin-lug retaining a short copper alloy bar surrounded by iron corrosion fromt the (missing) pin. The incomplete catch-plate is broken at the fold. Diameter 29mm. 2nd - 4th century.

Probable Roman copper alloy steelyard weight. Cast, incomplete, hollow pear-shaped casing with two opposed, flattened sides and a collared opening at the apex. About half missing, with ancient, irregular breaks. If a weight, it would originally have been filled with lead, but no trace of a lead survives, even around the internal flashing. Height 57mm. Pierced silver siliqua of Gratian, reverse VIRTVS ROMANORVM type, mintmark and further details illegible, slightly clipped and with relatively wide (2-3mm) piercing near edge (which has worn through) between 2 and 3 o'clock (obverse), weight 1.22g, AD378-83 The worn piercing shows that this coin has been reused as a pendant and thus qualifies at an item of Treasure. It is quite worn but not excessively so. The reuse as a pendant probably belongs to the 5th century although a late Roman reuse cannot be ruled out.

Fragment of gold sheet from an unidentified object. The sheet is folded forming a front and back-plate the edges of which are torn, except for the lower edge of the back-plate which appears neatly cut, and the straight folded edge. The front-plate is decorated with a row of stamped dots above a row of repoussé pellets parallel with the folded edge, the lower edge possibly torn along a third row of pellets or dots. Incomplete silver developed crossbow brooch of Bayley and Butcher (2004) type T192. The crossbar, axis bar and pin are missing, broken at the end of the highly arched pentagonal-sectioned bow. The bow becomes abruptly circular-sectioned with a collar before the foot-plate, which is straight sided, bevelled on either edge with a single transverse rib and a pair of ribs at the upper end and two pairs of transverse ribs at the lower end. The upper face is engraved with a naked male standing figure facing left holding stems of corn in his left hand, and an unidentified object is his right, with drapery falling from his left arm.
