Copper alloy pin or hairpin with simple flat-topped head consisting of a gentle conical expansion of the shank. There are faint indications of an encircling groove just below the top. Very slightly curved along the length. Cool 1990 Group 24. Length 116.5mm. Maximum diameter 6mm. Weight 7.56g. Not closely datable but most likely 2nd century.

A Roman copper alloy pin which is 30mm in length and is likely to have been used in furniture upholstery. It has a globular head with a diameter of 8mm, a short sub-rectangular sectioned shank. Similar examples have been found at Colchester (Crummy 1983, fig.116).

Incomplete Roman copper alloy hair pin. Globular head with radiating angled grooves and a engraved line forming a short spiral (two loops) around the top of the circular-sectioned, broken shank. Diameter of head 17mm. Height of head 7mm. Surviving length 35mm. Mid 1st - 4th century. Similar to an example from Colchester (Crummy, 1983, 31, no.499).

Bone pin, bodkin or toilet article, probably Roman, perhaps post-medieval. Sub-oval sectioned shaft, straight-sided before tapering smoothly for just under half its length to a broken tip. The head, which is crudely finished, is formed from (from the shaft up) a bi-conical moulding, a flanged moulding, a thinned sub-rectangular panel tapering at the upper end before a thicker sub-triangular or shield-shaped panel (point upwards), terminating in a large circular loop.
