The front of the plate retains solder from a missing, separate element (see for example Mackreth, 2011, vol.2, pl.104 for examples retaining thier separate decorative elements). On the reverse is a double pin-lug retaining a short copper alloy bar surrounded by iron corrosion fromt the (missing) pin. The incomplete catch-plate is broken at the fold. Probable Roman copper alloy steelyard weight. Cast, incomplete, hollow pear-shaped casing with two opposed, flattened sides and a collared opening at the apex. About half missing, with ancient, irregular breaks. If a weight, it would originally have been filled with lead, but no trace of a lead survives, even around the internal flashing. Height 57mm. Pierced silver siliqua of Gratian, reverse VIRTVS ROMANORVM type, mintmark and further details illegible, slightly clipped and with relatively wide (2-3mm) piercing near edge (which has worn through) between 2 and 3 o'clock (obverse), weight 1.22g, AD378-83 The worn piercing shows that this coin has been reused as a pendant and thus qualifies at an item of Treasure. It is quite worn but not excessively so. The reuse as a pendant probably belongs to the 5th century although a late Roman reuse cannot be ruled out.

Rectangular boss, flat on the reverse, with cusped or concave sides rising to form a central rectangular socket which is now partially filled by iron corrosion. The upper edges of the socket are broken. Projecting from the side and reverse of one short edge is a short, rounded projection, perhaps broken on the underside, which may represent the remains of the shank of a button-and-loop fastener. Roman incomplete small razor or knife, blade with curved cutting edge, point missing, straight flat-backed with regularly spaced transverse engraved lines. There are twin engraved lines on both faces of the blade bordering the straight vertical edge below springing of a sub-rectangular sectioned handle, broken before terminal and with both upper angles faceted with multiple incised oblique lines, end of handle missing. Dark green patina (pitted on both sides of the blade). Length: at least 37mm Width: 14mm Thickness of blade: 2.5mm. Cf. PAS database HAMP3381. Not closely datable.
