It is well modelled with the raised head turned slightly to one side. It has curling horns, incised pointed oval shaped eyes and details on the horns and coat with a scalloped skirt around body. The recessed underside is roughly finished and has a small rectangular central depression. The legs and tail are broken. It is 42mm in length and at least 35mm wide.
The ram and the goat are cult emblems of Mercury and either can be shown accompanying the god (Green 1978, 26). This brooch can be dated from the second half of the 1st century into the mid 2nd century.
