The group comprises four silver denarii. The earliest, showing some wear, is of Domitian whilst the other three are in crisper condition and show very little signs of circulation. All of these three date to the reign of Antoninus Pius. It seems likely that the four coins went into the ground together, either lost as part of a purse, or concealed as a hoard. This loss or deposition, on the basis of the condition of the coins, presumably occurred in the 150s or 160s. Fragments of silver snake finger-ring of Johns (1996) Type C, a form "which incorporates two or more complete snakes in the design" (Johns 1997, 35-7): two lengths of wire, both with a snake-head terminal and one end missing, form a loose reef knot . Part of a probably separate object, a pin with a small biconical head, passes through the centre of the knot. All three fragments move freely, although the pin is held in place by the other two pieces and cannot be withdrawn. 1st - 2nd century.

Fragment of silver finger ring. Rectangular sectioned loop expanding to a moulded oval snake-head terminal with beading around the edge, flat internally. A tiny fragment of silver finger ring. A flat sectioned fragment of the band, expanding in a smooth curve to a fragment of shoulder or bezel with at least two indentations, survives. Probably Roman, possibly similar to a white metal example in Crummy (1983, fig. 52, no.1791).

Silver finger ring of Henig's type XI with wide bezel set with an oval disc showing a scene in relief. This features a male figure reclining to the left; he holds out what appears to be a ewer towards a bird. This represents Ganymede, Jupiter's cupbearer offering a drink to his master in the form of an eagle. Five silver denarii and one silver radiate, found in a close area and running in a straight line as if scattered by the plough. Head of silver crossbow brooch with stub of narrow trapezoidal section bow. The side knobs are pinecone shaped, the upper knob more globular below an elongated finial, and there is a pair of rib mouldings before each knob. The cross arm is of hexagonal section. Iron axis bar. Keller Type 1 and Pröttel Type 1 (Swift 2000, 14). Date: Late 3rd - early 4th century. Dimensions: Width at cross arm 47mm. Weight 20.31g. The age and precious metal content of this item therefore qualify it as treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.

Incomplete silver finger ring. Most of D-sectioned (3 x 1mm), parallel-sided hoop is missing. The circular bezel (diameter 6.5mm) is cast integrally with, but is set on the outer surface of, the hoop. Its surface is flat and undecorated apart from a number of randomly distributed pecked impressions. On both sides of the bezel the hoop is decorated with three moulded grooves (3mm in length). Internal diameter c. 20mm, weighing 1.3g. This ring was reported as possible treasure under the Treasure Act 1996 and subsquently returned to the finder after being disclaimed as treasure.

Fragment of P-shaped or crossbow brooch. Broken at both ends. Lower bow of flat 'D' section ending with a single engraved transverse line above a pair of side notches, the footplate decorated with a pair of side notches, transverse line and another pair of side notches at the break. The catchplate does not survive. It is evidenced by a small broken backwards projection on the footplate, below which all of that side of the plate is missing. A rather flimsy example. Length 19mm, width 4mm. Weight 0.62g. 3rd - 4th century.
