Roman copper alloy hair pin. Incomplete circular-sectioned shank with complex head consisting of a rectangular knop with X engraved on three faces and three intersecting lines forming a star on the fourth, a concave moulding, bead with engraved line around the base, and a small terminal knop. Similar to Type 2 pins from Colchester (Crummy, 1981, 28 - 9). Maximum diameter of head 7mm. Length of head 18mm. Total surviving length 60mm. Circa 100 - 300 AD.

Roman copper alloy Colchester Derivative Hinged brooch (Mackreth, 2011, Type CD H 5.k.). Circular-sectioned wings with seam or groove along upper and lower face, upper part of hinged pin held by axis bar, upper part of plain oval-sectioned bow. Lower part of bow, catch-plate and most of pin missing. Traces of white metal coating. Width 47mm. Surviving length 24mm.
