Neolithic broken part-polished axe of unpatinated mottled grey flint with some small areas of spotty iron staining, approximately half survives. The butt was broken off in antiquity by a transverse bending fracture which has plunged over on to one face removing a large flake. Reconstructed length around 180mm. 92 x 70 x 32mm.

It is of mottled grey lightly patinated flint with spotty iron staining and a patch of cortex survives on one face where the axe is constricting towards the ( now missing) cutting edge. A large hand held boring tool or possible pointed "fabricator" made on a core of surface flint of unusual dark reddish colour with a large area of pale cortex remaining at the butt end. The flint exhibits natural thermal fractures which have been enhanced by first invasively flaking and then a second row of steep flaking to form a point at one end. A Neolithic fully polished stone axe of pale olive colour with a few minor ancient chips to both ends. There is a larger sub-conchoidal recent damage flake removed towards the middle of one face, the stone in this facet is of a grey/green nature and is unpatinated showing the original colour of the rock. The lateral edges are sharply faceted and the cutting edge shows signs of being re-flaked and reground, thus the axe may have been much larger originally. Surviving dimensions: 114.5 x 65 x 32mm.
