A pendant, harness pendant or possibly a finial or terminal, in the form of an equal-armed cross with expanded ends, rectangular-sectioned and wedge-shaped in profile. Extremely worn, slightly convex fron decorated with a narrow border around extremely worn Jellinge-style animal ornament in low relief around a central pellet or boss, the details of which are uncertain. Flat reverse with remains of double pin lug, worn loop at right angles to the edge opf the plate and slight raied scar from catch-plate. Pin missing. Diameter 25mm. 10th century. Flat terminals with concave sides and tri-lobed terminals with three grooves retaining traces of decayed pale material. Almost flat-sectioned smoothly curving bar with slightly convex upper face decorated to one side of the short, conical integral goad with two groups of four transverse grooves and broken across a third group of grooves. Description: Incomplete early-medieval Carolingian-style silver mount or strap slide, with foliate decoration cast in low relief, partially gilded and inlaid with niello. Late Saxon incomplete lead disc brooch. Less than a quarter of the original edge survies. The decoration, which covers all of the survivining surface, comprises at least 7 closley spaced concentric beaded rings. There may originally have been a central device but no trace of it ow survives. On the reverse is a folded catch-plate, now squashed, at right-angles to the edge of the plate. Pin missing. Original diameter (recomnstructed) circa 40mm. Thickness 2mm. For a similar brooch see NMS-109141. Circa 10th century.

Tongue-shaped plate with deeply cast decoration on the front face only consisting of a transverse rib before symmetrical stylised foliage in the form of loops and scrolls eminating from a central stem which projects slightly beyond the end of the plate forming a terminal knop.
