Silver
Finger ring. Band of very slightly plano-convex section bearing faint traces of worn vertical and horizontally inscribed decoration, perhaps the remnant of a billeted scheme. The band is broken although complete. The finder suggests an Anglo-Saxon date, though finger rings dated to the Early Medieval period with such a scheme as is suspected here are more massive than this example. Suggested date: Unknown, 1600-1900. This reporter considers a lack of assured and diagnostic detail precludes such dating as would be required to embark on a Treasure process.

Description: Two fragments of an apparently silver mount, probably from a vessel. The mount is made from thin silver sheet, and consists of a long corrugated band with a scalloped lower edge. Four pendant scallop shapes survive, two still attached to the band; each one has a punched aperture of diameter 1.4mm, probably for attachment to the edge of the vessel.
The larger fragment retains part of the straight band which is decorated with five parallel ridges apparently pressed from the back and with hollow reverses; the central ridge is broader than the rest. One end of this band …

Silver and copper alloy unidentified object. A disc of cast silver sheet of thickness 0.2-0.6mm and diameter [originally probably greater than] 15mm and in its form resembling a worn coin flan, which is firmly attached to the end of a square section copper alloy bar of scantling 4.6mm by 4mm;the bar is broken at the edge of the silver disc. This might be from a brooch or other fitting which used a coin flan for decorative effect, though no parallels for this form are known to this reporter. Silver gilt unidentified object. A cast curved strip, flat on its concave surface and with a larger central and smaller flanking ridges on its convex side. Silver possible metalworking debris. A dense fragment of solidified melt of a silvery hue. This may be silver, though whether it represents deliberate working or the accidental inclusion of an object in a bonfire is uncertain. The latter is perhaps more likely, as a surprising range of fragmentary silver items of Victorian and later date have been reported as field finds, and must therefore have been discarded without regard to the intrinsic value of the material. Silver pin. A small and tapered round-section shank with a sub-spherical collared head. The top of the head is now flat, probably due to its having been hammered. The simple form would be apt to upholstery work and is known from the Roman period onwards, though the use of silver suggests decorative intent. A collar might be expected on pins [though intended for other purposes] from the Middle Saxon period. However, a later date cannot be ruled out. Roman silver finger-ring set with a dark blue to black glass or stone, much degraded. The ring is of 'keeled' type, the hoop semi-circular in section, which expands and swells to form triangular shoulders with raised mouldings. The flattened bezel is waisted in plan and set with an oval stone. The design is difficult to interpret but appears to show a figure seated right on a throne holding out an object in a raised hand. It might be a representation of Jupiter, but it is difficult to judge as it is so heavily worn.

Bezel of a Roman finger ring, probably of Henig Type 2. The oval bezel narrows at either end, where slightly thickened shoulders joined the band (now lost). The display face bears an irregular spiral patch of rough material, surrounded by whitish material . This probably represents the degraded remains of enamel, as this class of ring is frequently decorated with concentric patterns in enamel.
Early Roman, 100-200.
X-ray fluorescence analysis identified the metal of the finger-ring fragment as copper-alloy, with less than 1% precious metal.
