Copper alloy finger ring fragment. The upper half of a finger ring with a narrow band of D-section expanding from the shoulders to form a neatly grooved or collared oval bezel on top of which a triskele is moulded in bold relief. A ring around the flat plinth above which the triskele appears is very finely billeted, cf. Guiraud Type 4, which includes a collared bezel amongst a range of attributes. The wearing of finger rings was a Roman custom and silver was probably available only through sources controlled by Romans under their rule, but the Triskele recalls a preoccupation with all …

Silver finger ring fragment. Cast 'TOT' ring, comprising a round flat bezel which stands proud of a remaining sub-triangular shoulder with engrailed edges, and with a short [12mm] length of a narrower band projecting beyond it. Possibly of Henig type VIII [8]. A pair of lines are incised along the shoulder and a stamped or drilled pit is set outside these lines to either side. The unseriffed letters T T are incised on the bezel, both being c.5mm high, with a pit of diameter c.2mm between them; together this should be read as TOT, a contraction of the name Toutatis. Silver finger ring fragment. TOT Ring. Cast shoulder and the larger part of the slightly raised sub-rectangular bezel of a finger ring with a thinner skirt either side of the thicker part of the band. The bezel bears the small incised letters DTO, with the very edge of another letter, probably T. The letters are simply formed, though the ends or seriffs of the T are lightly forked.A further Y-shaped curvilinear figure appears adjacent to the inscription on the shoulder, perhaps a framing element. The inscription contracts the dedicational formula Deo Toutatis, or to the god Toutatis. T…

Silver finger ring. Cast flat band expanded to form a bezel inscribed with the seriffed letters TOT with a non-continuous border of paired incised strokes to either side, and above and below. A further pair of paired lines appears on either shoulder of the ring. The upper and lower borders of the central panel each have three short vertical strokes extending between the inner border element towards the inscription. A single short stroke extends from the inner borderline on either side. Research by Adam Daubney into the distribution of 'TOT rings' suggests it to be broadly coterminous …

Silver finger ring. Cast ring with a narrow rectangular section band behind which is widened and thinned at angular shoulders which flank a central circular bezel, probably Henig Type VIII [8]. Each of the shoulders has a curved wing separated by two deep divergent grooves (one wing on one side is partly lost) with a rather crudely incised series of closely-spaced slashes at right angles to each groove. Silver finger ring fragment. Oval flat bezel from a finger ring, bearing the relief motif of two clasped hands. The fingers of both hands are long and are held straight and diagonally downwards, with an awkwardness which characterises Roman coin issues featuring the same motif. Silver finger ring fragment. Cast fragment from a finger ring with narrow band expanding towards the position of a flat bezel with incised line decoration: two slashes marking the edge of the bezel and three more running across it. The bezel appears to have been cut vertically across the middle; if so, this could hint at its Viking-Age reduction to hacksilver. The mass is close to one pennyweight. Now abraded and crumpled.
