Silver and stone pendant. A flat and elongated oval panel of polished grey-brown banded stone retained within a silver frame by a pair of drawn wire loops. Each loop is closed by a blob of solder, and a small oval suspension loop is attached at one end. Blobs of solder also form an asymmetrically distributed series around the frame. The stone is paler on one side and darker on the other; the casual execution of its setting gives the impression of a modern item of handicraft jewellery. Cast silver square section ring (1.75-2.1mm square) with fastening gear behind comprising a hinge for the pin (lost) and a wire loop opposite, with a pressed copper alloy concavo-convex badge fitted tightly into the ring. Silver clog clasp. Cast oval ended plate with a folded lunate tab at its curved end and a short oval lug at the other, also folded. The back of the plate bears the incised and hatched letters IBL. Hallmarks on the smaller tab comprise a bust right in an oval and a lion left in a sub-rectangular panel. These may suggest a date of 1812-1837 for Birmingham plate, or 1836-1875 for London. Silver and copper alloy possible pin fragment. Cast elongated shield-shaped concavo-convex plate with engrailed top edge, with the shank of a drawn wire pin attached by a blob of solder on the back. A decorative motif comprises foliage of trilobate leaves against a finely hatched ground, all incised detail executed by hand, within a plain border. The plate concealed the pin.
