A circular plate bearing the framed image of the Virgin and Child, the Virgin crowned and with sceptre and the Child haloed, viewed against a cross-hatched ground within a cabled inner border, a gutter, and an outer frame which is externally lined. A probably integrally cast D-section bar passes behind the image and across its flat plain back and is broken at the site of a sharp curve. Gilded overall, chipped. Silver strap end. A small cast rectangular box chape with a flat lug at its outer end and a rectangular field with the letter S in Gothic style viewed against a crudely cross-hatched ground on its display side – the ground having been executed as embellishment of the cast letter. The back plate is plain. A rivet of diameter 3mm and length 4.3mm passes through the box and attaches it to a textile strap which remains preserved within the chape and is now of a dull buff tint.
