A gilded copper alloy disc brooch of possible Scandinavian origin dating to the period c.AD850 - 950. Lead ampulla that has a circular chamber and long rectangular neck; flanking the neck are two angled handles (both are now truncated). A copper-alloy circular trade weight. This has a central recessed pellet with grooved line running near the outside edge. A Lombardic 'h' surmounted by a weakly struck crown in positioned towards the lower side. This mark was instituted by Henry VII in 1495 and lasted into the reign of his son, Henry VIII (Biggs 1992, 48).

Copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill dating AD 75-200. It has rearward facing lugs on either end of the wings that hold the pin axes bar, most of the pin is retained but is now heavily corroded. The head of the bow has a tapering triangular panel with expanded shoulders. In the centre of the head are two raised lines that converge at the apex of the bow forming a V-shaped crest with a third raised line in the centre that has a loop at the top for the external cord. The lower part of the bow is truncated resulting in the loss of the catchplate.

A copper-alloy and enamelled Iron Age stud (150 BC - AD 43). The object is circular in plan and semicircular when viewed in profile. The bow is a sup-rectangular strip gradually narrows to the bottom. The face is decorated with two narrow grooves that run down either side and a double groove that runs down the centre. A heavily corroded copper alloy book clasp. This example is rectangular in plan with two semicircular notches on either side and three V-shaped notches running down the rear edge. The forward edge has a narrowed tab that has been bent around to form a hook. The face is decorated with six square stamps that that have an eight paralleled flowed within and a ring a dog at the rear.    Artefacts such as this have been discovered during excavation in York which dated to the 15th and 16th centuries (Ottaway & Rogers, 2002, 2937-2939)

Copper alloy spoon fragment that retains the stem and the rear part of the bowl. The bowl has slightly angled sides that narrow to the base of the stem suggesting that the bowl may have originally been fig shaped. The stem has a sub-oval cross section that narrows to the tip where there is an acorn shaped terminal.

This is a core rejuvenation flake, at the top of the flake is remnants of a prepared platform. The dorsal has a prominent off-centre ridge running down its length, the flake removal taken from one direction.  The ventral side has a large bulb of percussion at the base. The flint is covered in a creamy patina with grey patches.

A small fragment of hack silver dating from the Early Medieval period, about AD 850 - 1000. The item is rectangular in plan with straight edges on all four sides.  Both the top and bottom ends have vertical sides that are unaltered.  However, the long edges on both sides display deep cuts that are 2/3 deep and cut from the rear of the item, the final 1/3 has a rough edge suggesting that the initial cut was not deep enough to sever it completely, making it necessary to finish the process by bending and snapping this section from its parent object.
