An ornamental head which has been broken off from a laver; kindly identified by Rob Webley, correcting an initial identification of the object as a fragment from a figurine. There is a circular deep hole in the back of the head (possibly for as a type of attachment). The eyes, nose and mouth are still clearly visible on the face. The hairstyle is very characteristic of the period.
