Headplate and bow from an early Anglo-Saxon cruciform brooch made from copper alloy. A top knob survives but the side knobs are both missing. The pin is missing but traces of iron oxide survive.
From the image, the brooch appears to have a trapezoidal raised central panel, decorated down either edge with double-crescent punchmarks, and two slightly flared wings. The bow begins with a flat-section panel, perhaps decorated with a horizontal line, and then is facetted below. A double vertical groove can be seen at the top of the facetted part, but below it is worn smooth.
