A complete, cast, lead vessica seal matrix dating to the Medieval Period (AD 1400-1600).
Description: The seal is pointed oval in plan with a projecting rounded handle on the back at the apex. The central design features six narrow 'petals' radiating from a central point. The legend is very worn and unclear in places, but may read +S'IOhIS FIL [P] THO[M]S which translates; 'Seal of John(?) son of Thomas(?)'.
Measurements: Length: 33mm; Width: 20mm; Thickness: 6mm and Weight: 6.8g.

It is bent into a curve, perhaps as a result of having been rolled or folded in the past. One surface has an area of cross-hatching, whilst on the other side area some incisions that may be lettering.
