Circular lead weight of Early Medieval date set with a Northumbrian styca. The weight is approximately 16.5mm in diameter, approximately 6mm high at its highest point and weighs (with the coin) 11.36g. The styca, which comes loose, is a crude issue which appears to be in the name of Redwulf, king of Northumbria c.844-58 although it is probably a mid-9th century derivative issue (North, p.72, no. 189ff). It weighs 1.10g. The weight, with such an inset, is a typically Viking type and probably dates to the second half of the 9th century.

Lead weight of roughly cylindrical form with the broken fragment of an Anglo-Saxon penny mounted over the flat top. The roughly triangular fragment has had each corner bent over to grip the lead although the coin has now become separated from the weight. The coin is somewhat accreted but the visible detail, comprising on the obverse a small cross with a pellet in each angle and the partial inscription HL[...], and on the reverse a temple facade and the inscription +RIS[...], makes it clear that it is a fragment of a so-called CHRISTIANA RELIGIO denier of the Carolingian king Loiu…
