After inspection 24 of the recovered coins, all large copper alloy nummi of Constantius II, Constans and Magnentius, were recognized as being from a dispersed hoard and were separated.
Description of find
All 24 coins are large copper alloy nummi of Constantius II, Constans and Magnentius which, with the exception of one irregular imitation, were all struck at the Roman empire's Western mints between 348 and 353. These coins are relatively uncommon as stray finds and the presence of so many together in one area is good evidence for the constituent coins being part of a hoard d…

Coin Hoard. The group comprises five silver denarii. The earliest three, showing a reasonable amount of wear, are of the Flavian dynasty whilst the other two are in crisper condition and show little sign of circulation. It seems likely that the five coins went into the ground together, either lost as part of a purse, or concealed as a hoard. This loss or deposition, on the basis of the condition of the coins, presumably occurred in the very late 2nd century or very early 3rd.

Two silver denarii, both in relatively crisp condition. Apart from siliquae from the second half of the 4th century and nummi from the 330s onwards, no other Roman coins have so far been found in this field. This fact, combined with the closeness of these two coins to one another in date and condistion, makes it very likely that they went into the ground together, either as part of a purse loss or a larger, concealed hoard. The two coins are:
