A complete flaked flint tranchet axehead of Mesolithic date. Measuring 130mm in length, 38mm in width and 40mm in thickness. This axehead has a markedly ridged plano-convex profile. The flint is patinated blue-grey over medium grey, it is relatively flaked all over with one small area of cortex on the flatter face. The cutting edge is relatively straight and formed by a series of flakes removed longitudinally, not transversely as in a tranchet axehead.
